An actual update! (Finally…)
Originally the side doors which house the filaments was going to be on a hinge. Considering adding a hinge makes it difficult to keep the storage airtight and adds more complexity and mounting requirements. I’ve decided to get rid of the hinge design and now it will be a simple magnetic lift off mount.
This is superior in a few ways, now I will be using the filament holders themselves as slots to lock the panel directly onto giving the side panel more support from top to bottom. The magnetic points will be at the four corners between the top corners and the bottoms.
Additionally, this will remove the requirement to add the 12x 150mm 20×20 extrusions, saving on complexity, weight, and cost which are always the goal of good engineering.
